Job Description:

Highland Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Advance Practice Provider Lead for our ICU team. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner that take this role will be tasked w/ both clinical and administrative responsbilities for the Advance Practice team in the ICU.

Some duties include but are not limited to:

Provides comprehensive care with an emphasis on health promotion and education. This includes identification, management, and/or referral of health problems in collaboration with various health care specialists. All assessments and medical planning of care are accomplished under the direction of the patient's attending physician. Directly evaluates the care being delivered in a clinical setting and investigates and reports on quality assurance issues. Acts as a resource to all team members, coordinating orientation and educational/student preceptorship.

Performs routine clinical duties as outlined in the APP (NP/PA) job description for the department. This includes providing direct and indirect clinical management of patient care; administering direct and indirect patient care in accordance with established protocols and collaborating with a variety of healthcare professionals being recognized as first-line resources to the attending physicians regarding changes in a patient’s condition.

  • Evaluates the quality of care provided by self and others. Oversees other APPs and directly evaluates the care being delivered in a clinical setting and investigates and reports on quality assurance issues.

  • Collaborates with physician and management to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care standards and programs, clinical standards and policies.

  • Acts as a resource to all team members, including serving as the primary clinical resource and mentor for department’s APP staff.

  • Manages APP work schedule for clinical site. May complete biweekly payroll.

  • Participates in the interview and recruitment process for new APP positions. Assists with credentialing process, onboarding, and orientation of new hires.

  • Coordinates orientation and educational/student preceptorship. Provides clinical mentorship for new APPs in the department.

  • Ensures all assigned staff remain compliant with mandatory education, licensure, certifications and other required credentials.

  • Contributes to the annual performance evaluations of department APPs. Delivers performance evaluations and ensures submittal to HR.

  • Identifies lack of competency in APP performance and establishes a plan which includes goals, interventions and measures.

  • Reviews and approves planned and unplanned absences among assigned staff.

  • Participates on committees and at meetings as necessary.

Salary Range:

$109,000.00 - $153,000.00 annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
