Job Description

Responsibilities

Norton C Hildren's Pediatric Hospital Medicine Division, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, is seeking a chief of pediatric hospital medicine. The selected candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience in both academic research and clinical innovation. The chief will have the opportunity to grow the specialty through recruitment and to support faculty in developing innovative programs. The opportunity is both a clinical and faculty position, with responsibility for supervising research, teaching excellence and cutting-edge clinical care.

The chief will collaborate with university and hospital partners to create a strategic plan that garners research funding and philanthropic support. This leader will help make pediatric hospital medicine a regional trusted partner in the care of hospitalized c hildren and a destination of choice for trainees, clinicians and scientists in the region.

Additionally, the selected candidate will be skilled at engaging with community stakeholders, creating a team environment where all team members feel engaged with the mission of the program, and building a highly motivated and engaged academic physician workforce.

As an integrated entity since 2020, Norton C Hildren's Medical Group, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, has recruited well over 100 providers; added four new accredited fellowships; increased outreach throughout Kentucky; and increased National Institutes of Health grants, industry-sponsored grants, and registry and trial drug network funding through Norton C Hildren's Research Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine.


"This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physician to work with a highly skilled pediatric hospital medicine team with a wide array of clinical and research interests in the areas of pediatric inpatient care, including chronic complex care, newborn medicine, quality improvement, advocacy and medical education. -Dr. Jeffrey Grill, MD

The incoming Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine will:

Provide executive and strategic leadership for the program, in partnership with the chair of pediatrics

Build a culture of engagement, team collaboration, and excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service

Develop and implement a research plan integrating clinical, translational, quality, and health services research opportunities

Supervise clinical training and education for medical students, residents, and fellows

Manage clinical services while carrying an appropriate clinical load within the specialty

Recruit additional faculty whose clinical expertise and research interests are consistent with the goals and direction of the program

An excellent clinical background with a national or international reputation stemming from academic/research contributions or achievements

A track record of innovative program-building with a focus on quality Improvement

Experience leading studies and publishing original scholarship in pediatric hospital medicine

Academic credentials that merit appointment at the associate professor or professor level

Board certification in pediatric hospital medicine
