Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs a comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessment of assigned patients as evidenced by clinical documentation.

  • Develops a Plan of Care to promote optimum function and safety as documented in the clinical record.

  • Maintain a full patient load.

  • Expected to supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides according to Iowa laws.

  • Verify they have appropriate orders, carry out evaluations, perform appropriate treatments and consult with medical professionals as needed to provide optimal health care to the patients.

  • Promote rehab services within the hospital and the community.

  • Must be knowledgeable of new laws and guidelines that affect physical therapy including standards of Evidence Based Practice.

  • Maintains and enhances personal knowledge as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy.

  • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.

  • Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.

  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Professional Requirements

  • Complete annual education requirements.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.

  • Wear identification while on duty.

  • Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.

  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.

  • Comply with all organizational policies.

  • Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with CCMH PRIDE values.

  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree, Required.

  • 2 years of clinical experience with a varied patient population.

  • Current Iowa PT license

  • CPR certification
