Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced IT Systems/Network Administrator to support and strengthen the City’s technology environment in Auburndale, Florida. This role is responsible for maintaining dependable server and network operations, improving security practices, and helping ensure stable access to critical systems for municipal staff. The position also provides technical leadership to Network Technicians while working closely with the IT Director on infrastructure planning, operational priorities, and service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the performance, availability, and maintenance of server and network environments to support reliable daily operations.

  • Build, configure, and enhance infrastructure solutions that promote secure connectivity, system stability, and long-term scalability.

  • Strengthen the organization’s security posture by applying hardening standards, managing access controls, and supporting response efforts for security events.

  • Guide and mentor Network Technicians by sharing technical expertise, assisting with issue resolution, and encouraging consistent support practices.

  • Administer and monitor ticket workflows, helping prioritize requests and ensuring timely follow-up for end-user and infrastructure-related needs.

  • Collect technical and operational information for budgeting, project scheduling, specifications, reporting, presentations, and vendor-related discussions.

  • Create and maintain clear documentation covering system changes, completed work, troubleshooting outcomes, and infrastructure standards.

  • Use diagnostic tools to identify network or system issues, interpret findings, and implement effective corrective actions as needed. Requirements • Strong experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and supporting enterprise system operations.

  • Solid understanding of Active Directory Domain Services, including user access, group policy, and directory management.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices such as endpoint protection, vulnerability reduction, access management, and incident response support.

  • Hands-on familiarity with routers, switches, and Fortinet firewall technologies in a network environment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues using network diagnostic tools and apply findings to resolve infrastructure problems.

  • Experience supporting Windows 10 systems and general system administration activities across an organization.

  • Capability to prepare technical documentation, reports, and operational summaries with clarity and accuracy.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and provide technical guidance. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®
