Job Description
Job Summary: Greater Opportunities is seeking an experienced, hands-on Facilities Director to lead the maintenance and operations of agency facilities across Broome and Chenango Counties. This position is responsible for overseeing multiple properties, supervising maintenance staff, coordinating facility improvement projects, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring agency buildings operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with strong problem-solving skills, experience in facilities management, and the ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational needs.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for employees, program participants, and community partners.

Preferred Experience:
-
Technical training, trade school education, apprenticeship training, industry certifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ten (10) years of progressive maintenance, facilities, construction, or building operations experience, including supervisory responsibilities.

Demonstrated experience managing multiple facilities, projects, contractors, vendors, and maintenance staff.
-
Certifications, licenses, or specialized training in facilities management, HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, water systems, construction, safety, or related fields.
-
NYS Class C Water License.

Experience with compliance and safety regulations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises all maintenance personnel
Responsibilities:

Lead and manage maintenance teams across multiple facilities.

Develop and manage budgets for facilities operations and maintenance.

Oversee scheduling of preventive maintenance and repair work.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate vendor relationships and manage service contracts.

Perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks as needed.

Implement best practices for energy efficiency and cost control.
Qualifications

Proven experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, construction, building trades, or related fields, preferably across multiple sites.

Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing maintenance teams and supervising staff.

Solid understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general construction.

Excellent organizational, planning, and budgeting skills.

Ability to balance administrative duties with hands-on operational responsibilities.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
