Full job description
Amergis Staffing is seeking a reliable and skilled Cook for a full-time position supporting an adolescent behavioral health residential program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining culinary skill with meaningful, purpose-driven work.
Position Overview
The Cook prepares fresh, balanced meals for clients and on-site staff, maintains kitchen safety and compliance, manages inventory, and ensures all dietary needs are met. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organization, consistency, and comfort working in a structured behavioral health environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Prepare fresh, balanced meals for clients and staff (lunch & dinner, M–F)

Prepare reheatable meals for weekends

Ensure continental breakfast items are stocked daily
-
Prepare homemade AM and PM snacks Monday–Friday
-
Follow nutrition standards and accommodate dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, etc.)

Review menus with clients individually for opt-outs and dietary restrictions
-
Maintain inventory and shop 1–2 times weekly within budget
-
Keep client refrigerator stocked with fruit, yogurt, string cheese

Submit receipts monthly
-
Monitor kitchen equipment and report issues
-
Follow all food safety, storage, labeling, and disposal standards

Maintain temperature logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher

Keep kitchen clean and organized
-
Lock all kitchen sharps when not in use and maintain sharps log

Provide meals/snacks for other regional programs when needed

Perform additional duties assigned by Program Director
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma
-
Food service & meal preparation experience – Required
-
ServSafe or Food Handler certification – Required

Must be 21+ years old
-
Must pass LiveScan, federal/state background checks, and child abuse index
-
Must be willing to interact with COVID-positive clients if needed

Experience working with teens in behavioral health, school, or healthcare
