EC Teacher Permanent Substitute (Long-Term Assignment)

Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Substitute

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dependable EC Teacher Permanent Substitute to support a self-contained Extended Content Standards (ECS) classroom serving students with significant cognitive disabilities. This is a long-term assignment for an educator who is comfortable facilitating instruction, supporting life skills development, and fostering a structured, positive learning environment.

The classroom maintains a low student-to-staff ratio, with no more than 10 students at a time. An established curriculum is already in place, and instructional support staff are assigned to assist throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction using an established curriculum and lesson plans.

  • Support students in developing academic, communication, social, and life skills.

  • Maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

  • Collaborate with instructional assistants and other support personnel.

  • Follow student accommodations, behavior support plans, and classroom routines.

  • Monitor student participation and provide feedback to administration as needed.

  • Promote student independence and functional skill development.

Classroom Information

  • Self-contained Extended Content Standards (ECS) classroom.

  • Amergisum of 10 students.

  • Curriculum and instructional materials provided.

  • Classroom support available through Instructional Assistants (TAs) and Personal Care Assistants (PCAs).

  • Focus on functional academics, daily living skills, and individualized learning.

  • No diaper changing required.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Exceptional Children (EC), Special Education, or students with disabilities preferred.

  • Ability to manage a classroom and facilitate instruction independently.

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

  • Patient, flexible, and committed to student success.

  • Teaching license preferred; qualified substitute teachers are encouraged to apply.
