What You’ll Do

As a Field Service Engineer , you will deliver high-quality service and technical expertise to healthcare customers while ensuring the performance and reliability of Omnicell solutions.

Primary Impact

Ensure the uptime, reliability, and performance of Omnicell’s automation systems, enabling healthcare providers to deliver safe, efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose and resolve electro-mechanical, automation, and system issues onsite to restore functionality quickly and effectively.

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance to optimize system performance and minimize downtime.

  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Build strong relationships with nursing, pharmacy, and healthcare leaders through clear communication and responsiveness.

  • Manage Service Events: Accurately document all service activities, including repairs, escalations, and follow-ups in accordance with company policies.

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Meet or exceed service-level agreements (SLAs), response times, and customer satisfaction standards.

  • Escalate & Collaborate: Identify product issues, bugs, or design challenges and escalate through appropriate technical support channels.

  • Inventory & Logistics Management: Maintain trunk stock, manage parts inventory, and ensure timely return of materials.

  • Cross-Functional Engagement: Partner with internal teams to improve service delivery, product performance, and customer experience.

Level Differentiation

Field Service Engineer I

  • Perform moderate-complexity troubleshooting and maintenance with guidance as needed

  • Support healthcare staff at the manager level

  • Develop foundational expertise in Omnicell systems and healthcare workflows

Field Service Engineer II

  • Independently perform advanced troubleshooting and system repairs

  • Engage with director-level stakeholders to resolve complex issues

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior team members

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications (Both Levels)

  • Coursework or training in Network Engineering, Electronics, Robotics, or related field

  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues

  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Field Service Engineer I

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)

  • Experience troubleshooting electronic, mechanical, or computer-based systems

Field Service Engineer II

  • One of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree + 1+ year of relevant experience

  • Associate degree/trade certification/military training + 4+ years of experience

  • 7+ years equivalent hands-on experience

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations , medical device standards, and Quality Management Systems

  • Proven ability to work independently on complex technical issues

Work Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (to approximately 5 ft. high)

  • Availability for on-call rotation , including nights and weekends

  • Frequent local travel within the assigned territory; occasional support in adjacent areas

  • Maintain a home-based workspace and inventory storage (trunk stock)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

  • Must meet Omnicell insurance coverage requirements

  • Reliable personal vehicle in good working condition

The salary range for this position ($32-$46 per hr) represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this role. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including skills, experience, qualifications, education, location, and business needs. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in Omnicell's benefit programs, bonus plans, and other compensation offerings.

Base Compensation: $27.58 to $51.22

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision plans covering eligible US employees and dependents, voluntary wellness and employee assistance programs, life insurance, disability, retirement plans with matching, and paid time off.)
