Job Description
Job Summary: Under indirect supervision, the Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools, including manual and CNC equipment precision parts. This role requires knowledge of machining processes, tooling, materials, and inspection techniques to produce parts that meet quality standards.
What you will do:

Analyze technical drawings, sketches, and design data to determine machining requirements, including tools, speeds, and feeds.

Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses.
-
Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators) to inspect parts during and after production.
-
Adjust machine setup or tool offsets to produce parts to print specifications.
-
Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure efficient and safe operation.
-
Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes.

Maintain accurate production records, tooling setup sheets, and inspection documentation.

Follow all safety protocols and quality standards in the manufacturing environment.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Set up and operate CNC grinding machines, including loading and adjusting tooling, and managing CNC programs.

Upload, download, and edit CNC grinding programs to optimize cutting conditions, improve cycle times, and ensure part accuracy.

Monitor machine settings, offsets, and wheel conditions to maintain quality output.

Understand grinding wheels, abrasives, and materials to select appropriate tools for various grinding applications.

Train and support operators in CNC grinding procedures and standard work instructions.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. One year or certification in CNC experience preferred.

Must be able to work quickly and with accuracy.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications.

Proficient in general math (including fractions and decimals).

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and in office setting.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Vision: Visual acuity Eyesight 20/25 with or without correction. Will be required to take and pass a color blindness test for visual inspections. Work on computer for long periods of time.
Other: May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, and standing, walking, squatting, sitting, and looking at a computer screen for long periods at a time.
