Important skills include Platform Reliability, Security Posture, Compliance Readiness, SOC 2 Type II Compliance, Security Controls Implementation, and Process Documentation. You will

  • Be a founding member of the Infrastructure & Security team, responsible for the platform reliability, security posture, and compliance readiness that enables Basic Capital to scale with confidence

  • Own Basic Capital's ongoing SOC 2 Type II compliance, implementing security controls, documenting processes, and working with auditors to achieve and maintain certification

  • Design and implement comprehensive observability systems including logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing across our infrastructure

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure-as-code that enable fast, safe releases

  • Optimize system performance, latency, and cost efficiency as we scale to serve more customers and handle increasing transaction volumes

  • Manage cloud infrastructure (AWS) including networking, security groups, IAM policies, and compliance-related configurations

Required Competencies

  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM)

  • Proven track record implementing security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar)

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)

  • Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and encryption

  • Experience with observability platforms and building monitoring/alerting systems (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch)

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Go) for automation

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience with secrets management, key rotation, and encryption at rest/in transit

  • Familiarity with penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security incident response

  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and business continuity

  • Experience in fintech or early-stage technology companies

  • Experience working in Kotlin backends

  • Experience with Temporal for asynchronous workflow orchestration
