Job Title: Respiratory Therapist, Certified
PART TIME - 3RD SHIFT
Job Description:
The certified respiratory therapist assesses, treats, and monitors patients with respiratory diseases and conditions. This includes the delivery of medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by the provider. Additionally, therapists provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support for acute respiratory failure. As part of patient assessment and management, the therapist performs diagnostic test procedures. In addition, therapists assist in departmental operations by assisting with quality improvement projects, equipment and supplies. The certified therapist follows all applicable rules and regulations established by the licensure board depending on the state in which respiratory therapy is practiced.
Provide Respiratory Care to newborn through geriatrics in generally predictable, although critical situations, under the supervision of the medical director.
Possesses a sound knowledge and an adequate proficiency in the skills of Respiratory Care and Electrodiagnostic practices, procedures, and techniques, as they pertain to newborn through geriatric patients.
Conducts physician prescribed treatments of a routine nature; operating Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPP) machine, various oxygen devices, nebulizer, or Metered Dose Inhaler to administer prescribed medications, gases and humidity and various oxygen concentrations to the respiratory system of the patient.
Performs chest physiotherapy treatments involving percussion, postural drainage, adjunct therapy and suctioning to loosen and mobilize secretions and mucus in the lungs. Performs arterial puncture; operates blood gas analyzer measuring and determining the acid base balance efficiencies of ventilation, and metabolism of the respiratory system.
Requirements:
Certificate/ diploma in respiratory care.
Prefer Associate degree in respiratory care.
Must possess a current and valid KBRC license.
Certified Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
BLS
ACLS, PALS and NRP certification within the first year of employment.
