About the Role:

We're looking for an Associate Scientist, Protein Characterization on the Biotherapeutics Characterization and Formulation team to help us expand what's possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Senior Director, Research, you'll play a critical part in supporting Insmed's innovative biologics pipeline from early discovery through development candidate nomination.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you'll have the opportunity as part of a cross-functional team, support the formulation and characterization efforts for biotherapeutic drug product discovery and development across different therapeutic areas.

You'll also:

Perform protein analytical techniques to inform on optimization of formulation and process to support development candidate nomination.

Apply standard procedures to assess biotherapeutic stability as a function of formulation and process and facilitate tech transfer activities.

Who You Are:

You have a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field along with 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.

You are or you also have:

Solid understanding of protein biotherapeutics, with an emphasis on stability and formulation challenges

Experience analyzing protein molecules by standard analytical and/or biophysical techniques

Desire to expand knowledge in advanced analytical and biophysical techniques to characterize proteins including light scattering (e.g., DLS, SEC-MALS, batch MALS), circular dichroism, fluorescence, Amide IFTIR, thermal stability (DSC), and sub-visible particle analysis

Familiarity with experiment documentation using electronic lab notebook

Experience working on successful teams and programs

Strong written and oral communication skills are required

Applicants should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task with multiple projects

Nice to have (but not required):

Experience using automated chromatography workstations (e.g., AKTA FPLCs) and employing multi-dimensional purification strategies is a plus.

A record of scientific publication employing the skills listed above is a plus.

Where You'll Work

This role is based out of our Bridgewater, NJ office and requires full-time, in-person presence to support hands-on collaboration, access specialized equipment, and/or operational needs.
