Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys working on diverse, large-scale projects while contributing to a team-focused environment that values mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete project estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Manage the estimating process from bid invitation through final proposal submission.
- Develop detailed cost estimates using Accubid and online bidding platforms.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Analyze project scope, labor requirements, material costs, project risks, and market conditions to develop competitive bids.
- Collaborate closely with project leadership, engineers, preconstruction teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the bidding process.
- Compare supplier pricing and competitor bids while helping justify estimate assumptions and pricing strategies.
- Prepare professional bid packages and customer proposals while ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Occasionally participate in pre-bid meetings and job site walkthroughs to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.
- Manage multiple estimates concurrently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented construction estimator with strong analytical abilities and experience preparing estimates for commercial or industrial construction projects.
- 5–10 years of estimating experience for an Estimator role or 10+ years for a Senior Estimator position.
- Experience estimating commercial or industrial construction projects; candidates from electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, or general contracting backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency using Accubid estimating software and online bid portals.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs, labor calculations, cost analysis, and subcontractor/vendor evaluations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to produce accurate estimates under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- Experience estimating low-voltage commercial projects is highly desirable, while candidates with strong estimating fundamentals and the ability to learn electrical systems will also be considered.
- Must be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working full-time in a collaborative, office-based environment with opportunities for long-term professional growth.
