Full job description

We are looking for a talented 3rd Shift Team Supervisor to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Forest City, NC

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead daily production team activities to ensure operational goals, production targets, and performance expectations are consistently achieved.

  • Foster a safe, organized, and productive work environment by promoting housekeeping standards and reinforcing safe work practices.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and overall operational performance.

  • Provide clear direction, set expectations, and clarify responsibilities to help team members succeed and remain aligned with business objectives.

  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees to strengthen team capabilities, improve engagement, and support long-term workforce development.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, safety, maintenance, and other support teams to resolve issues and improve processes.

  • Serve as a leader on projects and special assignments, helping implement solutions that deliver measurable business results.

  • Build a culture of accountability and teamwork by providing constructive feedback, recognizing achievements, and supporting employees in meeting their goals

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Build and lead high-performing teams by creating a collaborative environment where employees are engaged, accountable, and focused on achieving shared production goals.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, leadership, and cross-functional partners to ensure expectations, priorities, and performance objectives are understood.

  • Make sound decisions and direct work confidently by prioritizing tasks, delegating responsibilities, removing obstacles, and keeping operations running efficiently.

  • Develop and coach employees through ongoing feedback, mentoring, and development opportunities that strengthen individual performance and team capability.

  • Drive results while fostering accountability by maintaining focus on safety, quality, productivity, and operational targets, even in challenging situations.

  • Champion health, safety, and continuous improvement by proactively addressing risks, investigating and resolving root causes of incidents, implementing process improvements, reducing waste, and promoting an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and ideas.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

College, university or equivalent degree required, or equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Provide hands-on support to production operations as needed to ensure daily objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of production scheduling and material management processes to effectively support customer demand and business priorities.

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to build a highly skilled, engaged, and high-performing workforce.

  • Utilize strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills to identify production issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.

  • Communicate openly and effectively with team members, leadership, and cross-shift personnel to ensure operational alignment and continuity.

  • Monitor and analyze production performance metrics, including downtime and efficiency data, and drive continuous improvement initiatives through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology to achieve sustainable results.

  • Shift Hours : 8:30 PM till 5 AM (if overtime, till 6 AM)
