Full job description
Position Summary:
The Certified Lifeguard is primarily responsible for friendly service, safety and cleanliness of the Aquatic Center. This includes patron supervision, water testing, and record keeping.
Education, License & Cert:
Current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications required
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Lifeguard preferred. 2. Must possess excellent communication, and motivation skills. 3. Must possess competent knowledge of Lifeguarding and chemical testing skills.
Essential Functions: 1. Greets members and staff with exemplary service, a smile and empathy. 2. Ensures safety of all swimmers using advanced life guarding skills. 3. Supervises each participant and professionally enforces the policies of the aquatics department and the Facility. 4. Educate participants in aquatic safety policies both in lap pool, therapy pool, whirlpool, and sauna and steam room areas. 5. Professional conduct is required at all times either with members or with staff. 6. Inspects aquatic areas regularly to ensure deck is dry and clear of obstacles. 7. Test water chemistry in all pools according to state guidelines and those set by the Center. Make necessary adjustments based on pool operator’s guidelines. 8. Maintain accurate water testing records and attendance records for all pools. 9. Report all incidences or injuries. 10. Store all equipment safely and in proper location.
Other Duties: 1. Participation in community and employee engagement activities is required. 2. It is understood that this description is not intended to be all‐inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position.
This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
The pay range for this position is $17.47 - $24.26/hr
