Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About Chemify

Chemify is revolutionising chemistry. We are creating a future where the synthesis of previously unimaginable molecules, drugs, and materials is instantly accessible. By combining AI, robotics, and the world’s largest continually expanding database of chemical programs, we are accelerating chemical discovery to improve quality of life and extend the reach of humanity.

Location: Glasgow, UK (on-site)

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own the manufacture, assembly, and scale-up of the robotic hardware that powers our Chemifarms. As we move from our first facility to a global fleet, you will turn engineering prototypes into reliable, repeatable, manufacturable systems — and build the processes that let us produce them at pace and at quality.

What sets this role apart is that you are not maintaining a mature line — you are building how Chemify manufactures its platform, with direct influence on the hardware itself.

If turning ambitious hardware into a repeatable, scalable reality sounds like the right shape of job for you, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take robotic and instrument hardware from prototype to repeatable production, owning build and assembly processes.

  • Drive design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly feedback back into the hardware teams.

  • Develop and document assembly procedures, test rigs, jigs/fixtures, and acceptance/QC criteria.

  • Manage build quality, troubleshoot issues on the floor, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Work with supply chain on components, BOMs, tolerances, and supplier quality.

  • Support installation, commissioning, and bring-up of systems in the Chemifarm.

  • Work with contract manufactures to manage build quality, troubleshoot issues on the floor, and drive continuous improvement.

About You

You are a hands-on manufacturing engineer who is as comfortable on the workshop floor as in a design review. You like turning one-off builds into repeatable processes, and you are rigorous about quality and documentation without losing pragmatism.

We expect you to bring:

  • 3–5+ years in manufacturing, production, or mechanical/automation engineering, ideally for complex electromechanical or robotic hardware.

  • Hands-on experience with assembly processes, DFM/DFA, fixturing, test, and QC.

  • Comfort reading mechanical drawings and working closely with design engineers.

  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and rigour around process and documentation.

  • Familiarity with relevant safety and quality standards in a workshop/production environment.

Beneficial Skills

  • Experience scaling hardware from low volume to higher-volume production.

  • Exposure to fluidics, pumps, valves, motion systems, or lab instrumentation.

  • Lean / continuous-improvement and supplier-management experience.

Why Join Chemify?

Impact. The systems you help build go straight into the Chemifarm and make real molecules — your work is the difference between a prototype and a fleet.

Autonomy. You will own how we manufacture our platform and have real influence over the hardware design.

Ambition. We are a Series B deep-tech company at the frontier of chemistry, robotics, and AI — with the resources and mandate to build manufacturing for a platform unlike anything else.
