With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our Quality Assurance team. As part of this team, you will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of composite materials and parts for a VTOL electric aircraft. The inspection process will help baseline the company’s hardware design efforts and pave the way to production-ready hardware. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with like-minded individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry. Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of the quality inspection system
- Perform incoming inspection on supplied composite material
- Perform in-process inspection during the layup process for composite material
- Perform final inspection on completed composite parts
- Perform final inspection on the completed Work Order paperwork package
- Perform ad hoc part and process inspections Required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic understanding of quality concepts (training can be provided)
- Willingness to learn measurement techniques and tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
- Ability to follow instructions and learn how to read simple drawings or work instructions
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, and simple measurements)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn quality standards
- Ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records
- Willingness to learn basic inspection and testing methods
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward learning new skills Desired
- 1+ years of on-the-job aerospace experience
- General knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and understanding of the x, y, z coordinate system
- Basic knowledge of statistical terms and techniques, how to plot data, and how to recognize out-of-control conditions
- Basic knowledge of plan-do-check-act (PDCA)
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certificate Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $24-$30 per hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
