Job Description

Education

Minimum: Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing.

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

  • Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through RQI; must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Experience

Preferred:

  • Previous physician office experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Professional and courteous interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and promote teamwork through positive role modeling.

  • Computer literacy.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR).

Population-Specific Requirements

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Duties may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Practice Manager and medical provider, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides quality patient care to support optimal clinical outcomes. The LPN maintains patient confidentiality and demonstrates clinical competence through continuing education, departmental competencies, in-service training, and ongoing professional development.
