Position Overview:
At Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, our Physical Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain function, restore mobility, reduce pain, and achieve their highest level of independence following illness, injury, or surgery. This position is responsible for evaluating patient needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions across a diverse patient population.
The Physical Therapist partners closely with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. Through clinical expertise, compassionate communication, and ongoing assessment, the Physical Therapist fosters trust and engagement while supporting positive outcomes throughout the rehabilitation journey.
This role also provides clinical leadership through the supervision of physical therapist assistants and rehabilitation aides, serves as a clinical instructor for students, and contributes to a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. Adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards is essential to ensuring patient safety, privacy, and quality of care.

EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
OR graduate of an accredited physical therapy program that can be demonstrated with a valid PT license
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: PT-Physical Therapist
OR Will also consider approved license applicant or resident training program employee.
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: Recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Critical thinking, complex problems solving, decisive judgement and ability to work independently.
Knowledge and application of professional practice and regulatory requirements.
Must be able to work in demanding work environment, organize multiple priorities completing work duties within expected timelines and requirements.
Computer and required technology proficiency/competencies.
Demonstrates effective and efficient professional communication (verbal & written) skills as well as interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, teamwork/collaboration, customer service and community relations abilities.
Able to retain and apply new knowledge & skills.
Keeps abreast of professional practice development and advancement.

Pay Range is $63.78 to $89.28 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
