The Impact You'll Have The VP of Local Markets leads both sales and account management strategies to expand market share, strengthen client relationships and achieving financial targets. This role blends strategic sales planning with deep account management expertise to ensure long-term profitability and customer satisfaction across the Individual, Medicare Advantage, Small Group, Mid-Market, Specialty and Sales segments.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan focused on building strong relationships with health plan clients, brokers, TPAs, and other stakeholders.

  • Set and track sales goals, quotas, and budgets; produce forecasts and reports to guide decision-making.

  • Lead and mentor sales and account management teams, ensuring alignment with company strategy and market objectives.

How You'll Do It

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and operations to create compelling proposals and promotional materials.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including upsell and cross-sell across existing accounts.

  • Partner to develop client-focused strategies that address total cost of care and advance affordability solutions.

  • Oversee contract management, compliance, and risk control frameworks

  • Develop and implement annual business plans that align with the corporate three-year strategic plan and include clear strategies and tactics to achieve membership and financial goals.

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with underwriting, actuarial, marketing, health services, operations and all other supporting functional areas within the organization while developing strategies for growth and retention.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.

  • Performs additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of related professional experience, with 3+ years of management experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • 5 years of sales management experience and a comprehensive knowledge of commercial products.

  • Expert strategic planning and business planning skills.

  • Collaborator, team player, and consensus builder, yet individually strong in taking actions. Innovative and action-oriented, with high energy.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, the Board, regulators, and community.

  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in the face of ambiguity and within tight timeframes.

  • Advanced knowledge of health care environment, local and national markets, leading edge products, account management strategies, competitive drivers and best practice design.

  • Familiarity with health plan product features, networks, underwriting principles, sales cycles, claims trends and other business drivers of sales and account retention.

  • Personnel motivation, mentoring and change management skills to motivate and lead a skilled professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and organizational skills, to meet market plan objectives.

  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills, including written, oral and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated depth of problem solving and management experience across functional areas.

  • MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/ Accident.

Licensure/Certifications Producer License in the lines of Health/Accident - State Insurance Licensing Board

Role Designation Hybrid

Role designation definition:

  • Teleworking is working full time remote.

  • Hybrid is a minimum of 2 days onsite.

  • Onsite is full-time onsite.

Compensation and Benefits $300,000.00 - $320,000.00 - $340,000.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
