I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Director or Manager, provides physical therapy services for inpatient and outpatient populations based on physician referral, therapist judgment, patient goals, and clinical needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Screening, examination, re-examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and development of individualized plans of care

• Delivery of evidence-based therapeutic interventions

• Outcomes assessment and documentation

• Patient and family education

• Consultation with physicians and interdisciplinary team members

• Promotion of health, wellness, injury prevention, and functional independence

• Participation in quality improvement and professional development activities

May provide assessment and treatment for patients across the lifespan. Must be able to appropriately interpret patient communication, behavior, and clinical information while considering cognitive, physical, emotional, cultural, and developmental factors.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions

• Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids

• Interaction with electrical and mechanical equipment

• Fast-paced work environment with variable patient volumes and priorities

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Lab coat

• Gown

• Mask

• Non-sterile or sterile gloves

• Eye protection (optional as appropriate)

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education, Certification, and Licensure

• Current Hawaiʻi State Physical Therapist license, or ability to obtain prior to start date. New graduates awaiting licensure are encouraged to apply.

• Current BLS/HCP Certification

B. Experience

• One (1) year of professional Physical Therapy experience in an acute care hospital or outpatient setting preferred, but not required

• Recent graduates and newly licensed Physical Therapists are encouraged to apply

• Experience demonstrating:

• Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care

• Understanding of applicable state and federal regulations

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities

• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple demands in a dynamic healthcare environment
