Location: Sentara Infusion Services - Charlottesville, VA
Status: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Shift: Days, Monday-Friday
Hours: 8AM-4:30PM

Sentara Pharmacy and Infusion Services
The Operational Pharmacy Specialist p articipates in the medication-use system while delivering comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to patients. Assumes local and system responsibility and accountability for specialized areas of pharmacy operations (e.g., compounding, drug diversion, quality, and safety).

Ensures the appropriateness of all provider medication orders in maintaining a high level of patient care and safety

Participates in the training of new employees and the development of training materials

Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements

Precepts pharmacy students and/or pharmacy residents as assigned in operational oversight of area of practice
-
Leads the implementation of various system initiatives at both local and system levels
-
Serves as a system expert and site lead in specialized pharmacy operations in area of practice (e.g., compounding, drug diversion, quality, and or safety)

Resource for the staff on operational issues related to pharmacy practice

Additional duties may be assigned as needed

May be responsible for pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) duties when applicable
Requirements:
Education
-
Bachelors Level Degree in Pharmacy (Required)

Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure

Valid Pharmacist License in State of Practice (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
Experience
- Previous Relevant Experience (Preferred)
