HVAC Service Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused HVAC Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate is a skilled professional with strong diagnostic abilities, a commitment to safety, and a dedication to delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires independent work in the field, effective communication, and the ability to represent the company with professionalism and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC Installation, Maintenance & Repair (100%)

  • Install, service, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems in residential and commercial environments.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system performance issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of tools, parts, and materials needed to complete service calls.

  • Complete service documentation, invoices, daily route sheets, and other required reports accurately and timely.

  • Collect customer payments and payment information when applicable.

  • Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained, organized, and in good working condition.

  • Participate in cross-training opportunities and support additional operational needs as required.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Deliver a best-in-class customer experience through professionalism, responsiveness, and technical expertise.

  • Clearly explain repair recommendations, maintenance needs, and service options to customers.

  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships based on trust and quality service.

Communication & Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, vendors, and management.

  • Keep leadership informed of work progress, customer feedback, and any significant issues or concerns.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety standards, policies, and industry best practices.

  • Operate company and personal vehicles in compliance with applicable traffic laws and company guidelines.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Utilize proper safety equipment and procedures during all service and installation activities.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of residential HVAC service and refrigeration experience.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Must be insurable and able to meet company driving requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using mobile field service applications, tablets, or estimating software.

  • Additional HVAC certifications are a plus.

  • Significant local travel required to customer locations and Branch offices.

  • Must own or lease a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license and insurance coverage.

  • Ability to work varying schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency service calls as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
