The Role

Lays out, fabricates, and assembles a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling involving compound angles and complex contours where the establishment and coordination to exacting tolerances of numerous tooling holes and reference points between several planes are required. Performs measurement surveys using photogrammetry, total stations, laser trackers or other electronic 3-D instruments. Uses computer aided designs (CAD) graphic user interface software for design. Plans work to be performed and determines methods and sequence of operations working from tool design drawings or own designs. Sets up and operates optical instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies. Develops and designs holding devices and jig and fixture details. Prepares operational sequences and shop drawings covering parts fabrication and assembly to be performed by others. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Coordinate and update daily technical tasking, production priorities, and documentation schedules Interface with engineering, production, and external stakeholders to interpret part fabrication requirements and dimensional tolerances. Conduct technical reviews, approve accuracy control documentation, and ensure readiness for production release. Maintain operational understanding of fitting, welding, structural fabrication practices, and hull construction methodologies.

Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience. May require certification.

Nice to Have

Engineering experience preferred.
