Serving two primary markets - passenger vehicle and commercial truck - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing operations and customer programs. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting new product launches through APQP. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about problem-solving and process improvement.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for specific production lines and/or customer products with regard to overall quality requirements and improvements.
Coordination of assigned APQP projects and the development and/or update of the following: Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, APQP Documentation, PMFEA's, Inspection Instructions, and others as needed
Design and development of specialized gaging as needed.
Design and development of Quality system procedures and instructions as needed to maintain Quality System.
Prevention and reduction of waste through the use of quality Tools, such as, but not limited to: Pareto analysis, Mistake Proofing Devices, Cost of Quality Analysis, Visual Indicators, Capability
Studies, and other statistical tools.
Prevention and resolution of Customer Concerns through the use of problem resolution tools such as 7D, 8D, Five Whys, etc., and problem-solving processes.
Ability to work in a team environment and foster continuous improvement in all aspects of the plant operations.
Provide guidance to the quality engineering technicians as needed with regard to the following areas: Layout, Gage Calibration, Floor Inspections/Audits, Quality Checks, etc.
Prepare periodic reports and other data for presentations to managers and/or plant personnel.
Facilitation of Customer PPAP submission.
Review of Customer systems for non-conformances
Trace and review the status of engineering deviations and change requests
Support the APQP process
Create and update quality documents as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing quality role (automotive preferred).
Experience supporting APQP and product launches.
Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies.
Skills and Competencies
Tier 1 automotive supplier experience.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
Hands-on experience with:
PPAP, APQP, PFMEA
GD&T
SPC and capability analysis
Gage R&R and calibration systems
Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and internal auditing.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical software
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
