This onsite position offers an exciting opportunity to guide students from the classroom to meaningful employment while strengthening partnerships with business and industry throughout the Bear River Region.

As a Career Placement Specialist, you'll work directly with students, faculty, employers, and community partners to prepare students for successful careers through career coaching, employability skill development, and workforce placement. About Bridgerland Technical College

Bridgerland Technical College is one of Utah's eight technical colleges. We provide high-quality technical education to those in the Bear River Region. We prepare students for successful careers through hands-on skills and learning opportunities.

What You'll Do

As a Career Placement Specialist, you'll help students successfully transition from education to employment while developing strong partnerships with employers to support workforce needs throughout the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a mentor and career coach, supporting students throughout their educational journey.

  • Provide individual and group career coaching focused on employability skills, career readiness, and workforce success.

  • Assist students in developing educational and career goals.

  • Review resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and employment applications while providing constructive feedback.

  • Prepare students for interviews, networking opportunities, and job searches.

  • Connect students with internships, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities that align with their career goals.

  • Support student retention, program completion, and successful transition into the workforce.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers, industry partners, and workforce organizations.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between instructional departments and employers.

  • Promote qualified students and graduates to prospective employers.

  • Assist employers in identifying qualified candidates for employment opportunities.

  • Coordinate employer visits, recruiting events, career fairs, networking opportunities, guest speakers, and facility tours.

  • Stay informed on workforce trends, hiring needs, and employment opportunities.

  • Collaborate with faculty to support career readiness and workforce placement initiatives.

  • Represent the college at community events, workforce development activities, high school visits, and career fairs.

  • Promote college programs and career opportunities to prospective students and employers.

  • Track graduate employment outcomes and maintain accurate placement data.

  • Prepare reports, employment statistics, and other required documentation.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student, employer, and institutional information.

  • Assist with college events, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and customer service skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to mentor, coach, and motivate students.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, employers, and community partners.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other cloud-based software applications.

  • Ability to collect, maintain, and analyze employment and placement data.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Workforce Development, Career Services, Education, Business, Student Services, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • Experience in workforce development, career services, recruiting, employer relations, student services, education, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of resume development, interviewing techniques, career planning, workforce readiness, and employment strategies.

  • Experience coordinating employer events, outreach activities, or workforce development initiatives.
