DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on coordinating posted and bonded road activities, reviewing permits, directing inspections, and applying engineering knowledge to protect roadway conditions. The role supports maintenance decisions, permit reviews, inspection schedules, and communication with internal and external partners. As a Posted & Bonded Roads Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Engineering Guidance: Provide direction on engineering policies, standards, and requirements to permit customers and departmental staff

  • Road Posting Decisions: Work with maintenance personnel to determine which roads require reduced weight limits

  • Study Evaluation: Conduct traffic and pavement studies to recommend weight restrictions and review engineering analyses

  • Permit Review: Evaluate Highway Occupancy Permits and coordinate reviews related to drainage, safety, and geometry

  • Agreement Oversight: Prepare, review, and monitor heavy haul agreements and ensure repairs and maintenance follow established standards

  • Inspection Supervision: Assign, guide, and review the work completed by departmental and consultant inspectors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • This position may require overtime.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;or

  • One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
