Security Specialist

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 116TH MI Brigade, 15TH MI Battalion Fort Hood, TX. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Experience applying personnel, physical, information, automation, Industrial, and SCI security principles to execute complex work assignments; AND 2) Experience managing Special Access Programs (SAP) and SCI security operations, utilizing knowledge of national directives to fulfill organizational requirements; AND 3) Experience utilizing automation and information security systems to synthesize diverse policies, implement intelligence community procedures, and design new administrative frameworks for compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Serves as the Command Security Manager and Special Security Officer (SSO). Provides oversight, guidance and advice to supported activities and security and intelligence personnel who under the direction of the SSO are responsible for the establishment, management and implementation of SCI security programs. Manages the overall execution of the personnel, physical, industrial and information security programs within the organization’s (AOR). Serves as the Primary Action Officer for coordination of security services in support of contractors and reservists assigned to difficult and complex work in the organization.
