Position Overview

PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician to support the manufacturing of advanced aerospace and spaceflight subsystems and support equipment. This position is responsible for performing complex electro-mechanical assembly, inspection, soldering, and rework activities while ensuring products meet stringent quality and reliability requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with PCB assemblies, aerospace manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and high-reliability electronic systems in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis.

  • Assemble electro-mechanical products by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures.

  • Perform complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, aircraft systems, equipment, and accessories.

  • Utilize precision measurement and assembly tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.

  • Conduct visual inspections to verify conformance with engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Ensure product quality and adherence to manufacturing standards.

  • Document non-conformances and perform rework and repair activities as required.

  • Solder and rework through-hole and surface mount (SMT) components.

  • Support conformal coating, masking, epoxy application, and coating processes.

  • Follow established quality, safety, and workmanship standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 3+ years of experience reading blueprints, manufacturing plans, and work instructions within an aerospace manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to frequently lift 20 pounds or more.

  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and stoop for extended periods while handling products and assemblies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in electronics, electro-mechanical, and printed circuit board (PCB) assembly.

  • 3+ years of experience assembling high-reliability electro-mechanical products.

  • 3+ years of experience working with ESD, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610 standards.

  • 3+ years of soldering and rework experience.

  • 5+ years of experience building component-level space products such as avionics boxes, batteries, mechanisms, optics, solar arrays, and PCB assemblies.

  • 3+ years of experience using hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears.

  • 3+ years of experience in a clean room environment.

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly setting.

  • Current IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard computer systems.

Education & Experience

Typically requires:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of related experience; or

  • Vocational training or Associate degree with 2+ years of related experience; or

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant experience; or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
