Full job description

Location: Bandera, TX

Start Date: August 11, 2026

Duration: 38 weeks

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM (32 hrs/week)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher (Behavioral) to support an elementary caseload (grades 1–5). This is a 1:1 assignment working closely with one student and a paraprofessional, with the potential to add 1–2 additional students after ~9 weeks.

You’ll collaborate with general education staff and help deliver individualized instruction, behavioral support, and IEP-based services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction and behavioral support

  • Collaborate with SPED and general education teams

  • Support IEP goals and student development

  • Work alongside a dedicated paraprofessional

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

  • Active state teaching certification

  • SPED EC–12 certification required

  • Core subject competency required

  • LBS1 endorsement (preferred)

  • At least 1 year teaching experience (preferred)

  • Must meet all state compliance requirements (CPR, TB screening, etc.)

Compensation

  • Local Pay Rate: $50/hr

  • OT Rate: 1.5x

  • Weekly Meals & Housing Stipend (Travel): $1,600

Assignment Details

  • Caseload: 1:1 (low ratio, highly focused support)

  • Behavioral Support Level: Medium

  • Medical Support Level: Low (Level 1)

  • Client Interview: Required with Director
