Full job description

The Laboratory Technician I receives sufficient authority from and is accountable to Laboratory Manager or Team Lead for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position and to identify the occurrence of departures from the quality system or from the procedures for performing tests and/or calibrations, so long as such action does not deviate from established company guidelines, is consistent with sound technical and business judgment, and follows the practices of the laboratory.

Overall Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Works and communicates effectively with team members.

  • Is dependable and on time.

  • Maintains consistent quality and efficiency in all assigned work processes.

  • Keeps equipment and work environment clean and organized, ready for use.

  • Applies adequate laboratory techniques after training

  • Understands and follows documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Work Instructions, Checklists, Batch Records, and Logs.

  • Operating lab equipment: centrifuges, automated liquid handlers, pipettes, etc.

  • Maintains accurate production records according to requirements and in compliance with Established Quality System standards.

  • Follows all company safety and regulatory policies, including handling hazardous materials and wearing of proper PPE (personal protective equipment) that are relative to assigned work.

  • Is prepared to work overtime during shifts other than the one assigned or weekends if requested.

  • Completes successfully applicable on-site training programs in a timely manner.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements:

  • Associate degree or coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field preferred.

  • Ability to accurately follow detailed written procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and verbal instructions in a regulated laboratory environment.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive laboratory tasks and processing high volumes of samples.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while consistently meeting quality, productivity, and turnaround time goals.

  • Proven ability to work well with a team with little supervision.

  • Flexibility to work overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, or holidays as operational demands require.

  • Annual RCRA awareness training. Preferences:

  • Previous experience working in an ISO-9000 or cGMP environment.

  • Previous experience working with general laboratory equipment.

  • Microsoft Windows and Excel proficiency.

  • Previous experience working with Hazardous Chemicals.

  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation such as pipettes, balances, centrifuges, thermocyclers, spectrophotometers, plate readers, or automated laboratory systems.

  • Ability to lift 35+ pounds. Compensation:

  • Hourly: $18.00-$21.50

  • There is a 10% differential for this shift, in addition to base pay. Schedule:

  • Tuesday-Saturday 3:00pm-11:30pm What we offer:
