This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500

Under the direction of the department Manager, the Ultrasound Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations that help physicians accurately diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions. This role provides compassionate patient care while producing exceptional diagnostic images in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including bedside examinations when needed.

Working collaboratively with radiologists and the interdisciplinary care team, the Ultrasound Technologist assists with image-guided procedures, documents and communicates preliminary findings, and maintains accurate patient records. Success in this role requires a commitment to quality, safety and exceptional patient care while maintaining a clean, efficient work environment and following infection prevention standards. Additional responsibilities include supporting the clinical education of students, participating in an on-call rotation and maintaining required certifications and professional competencies.

A caregiver in this position works weekend days, 7:00am--7:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations for inpatient and outpatient populations in the ultrasound department and at the bedside, as ordered by the physician.

  • Assist radiologists with invasive procedures by preparing patients, completing required documentation and ensuring procedural readiness.

  • Perform specialized ultrasound procedures, including neurosonography on neonates and arterial and venous vascular studies, producing high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Prepare and maintain permanent ultrasound records, generate preliminary reports and present findings to the interpreting radiologist.

  • Utilize department computer systems to document procedures, generate reports, process billing and maintain accurate patient records.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment while adhering to infection prevention, patient safety and age-specific care standards.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation, providing timely , professional patient care after regular business hours.

  • Support the education and development of radiologic technology students by providing clinical instruction, supervision, image review and performance feedback.

  • Comply with all hospital and departmental policies, including attendance, confidentiality, safety, identification requirements and professional standards.

  • Complete required education and training, maintain applicable certifications and licensure, collaborate effectively with leadership and team members, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Graduate/GED

  • Successful completion of an approved radiologic technology program and satisfactory completion of a formal sonographic training program or graduate of a two-year college based sonographic training program

  • Registered RDMS by the ARDMS within 24 months of hire

  • Positions working for Mammography require completion of six continuing education credits specific to breast upon hire or within six months of hire

  • Working knowledge of computer systems and applications

  • Excellent background in anatomy, physiology and physics

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One-year experience as an ultrasound technologist

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
