Experience and training that furnish the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade; including skill in operating vehicles of the type described in the duties of the position. 2. Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe for operation. 3. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. 4. Ability to read, understand, and apply instructions and other materials related to the job. 5. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision. Operates heavy equipment to maintain multiple golf courses. Equipment used includes lawn mowers, tractors, fork lifts, aerators, verti-cut machines, backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and rollers. Duties include mowing, pushing, pulling, piling, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, or earth, to accomplish landscaping, filling, digging of ditches and holes, and hauling. Incumbent also clears brush, rocks, and removes tree stumps. Adjusts attachments to the equipment for proper level, angles, or depth, according to the work to be done and the type of equipment used. Applies fertilizer, sow seeds, and sods needed areas. Sprays or applies insecticides and herbicides, as directed. When required, waters different areas of golf course. Performs necessary repair and maintenance work on equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
