Job Description:

The Bilingual (French/English) Senior Brokerage Representative is responsible for tariff classification, customs declarations, and regulatory compliance activities related to cross-border shipments. This role applies Canadian customs regulations, determines duties and taxes, and ensures accurate customs documentation.

Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent / Remote Workdays: Monday to Friday (must be able to work ALL 5 days of the week) Shift Hours: 8.30 AM to 5.00 PM (must be able to work a minimum of 40 hrs. per week) Shift Duration: 8 hours a day (requires flexibility with Start and Finish time) Work Location: Based in Canada Hourly Wage: $23.04 per hour

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and submit customs declarations, commercial invoices, bills of lading, and permits through electronic customs systems.

  • Accurately classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) to determine applicable duties, taxes, and tariff rates.

  • Ensure customs declarations comply with laws and regulations issued by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

  • Manage customer inquiries related to trade agreements and customs matters, and resolve disputes, inspections, or declaration rejections in collaboration with Canadian customs authorities to prevent delays and additional costs.

  • Apply and adhere to current customs policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Support the Team Leader in daily operations, including preparing detailed reports, distributing workload across the team, and assisting customers.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) – Required (regular interactions with clients outside Quebec – 50%)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs operations - Required

  • Minimum 3 years of direct product classification experience using HTSUS and customs regulatory resources - Required

  • Customs Specialist (CCS) certification - Required

  • Bachelor's degree or International equivalent - Preferred
