Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Type: 12-month Contract
Compensation: $55.00 - $57.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Hybrid – (4 Days Onsite, Remote 1-Day Per week)
Project Engineer will support capital projects at wind farms across the region, primarily in Southwest Minnesota, with sites throughout MN, SD, and nearby areas.
Project Engineer Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of approximately a dozen projects per year, overseeing the entire project lifecycle at wind facilities.

Plan and schedule capital projects at wind farms.

Order equipment and coordinate with contractors.
-
Communicate and collaborate with site Operations & Maintenance teams.

Perform limited research and development to select optimal equipment options.

Manage a multiyear (5-year) project portfolio, including budgeting and forecasting.

Ensure quality, adherence to schedule, and control costs.
-
Travel during construction windows to oversee installations, as needed.

Engage in desk-based planning and scheduling, including opening and planning work orders.

Coordinate schedules and field visits with contractors.

Work with O&M teams to align priorities.

Research equipment options and document decisions.

Develop and manage budgets and forecast project portfolios.

Occasionally visit sites during construction to oversee work.
Requirements
-
Engineering degree (Mechanical or Electrical preferred; other disciplines considered), ideally from an ABET-accredited program

Project management experience
-
PMP certification (nice to have)

PE license (nice to have)

Renewables experience, especially wind energy

Strong communication skills, critical due to multisite coordination

Ability to work effectively with O&M teams

Independent problem solving and ownership

Approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience

Strong renewables project management background considered, even without a degree (engineering degree highly preferred, not required)
