Full job description

The Academic Instructional Coach is responsible for the overall development, implementation and oversight of the program’s coaching program and ensures all staff have access to ongoing professional development and oversight to program requirements regarding best practices in working with young children. The Coach designs and provides training to small and large groups of staff and individual staff. The Coach is responsible for developing, scheduling, and maintaining the professional development calendar and itineraries for the Child Development program. Responsible for providing training and direct supervision of the Head Teachers as well as monitoring and evaluating job performance. Must have compassion and understanding for the needs of children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with ECE credits, plus three years related work experience in an approved program, 2 of which were administrative and supervisory in nature; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Provide a TVCCA staff Statement of Good Health signed by a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner within twelve (12) months before the date of employment and every thirty-six (36) months thereafter.

  • Must have access to reliable, insured transportation.

  • Strong computer and communication skills.

Required Experience

  • Must be computer literate.

  • Demonstrate team work, leadership, a positive attitude, and ability to develop working relationships with staff, managers and other professionals.

  • Apply decision-making, creative problem-solving, leadership and organizational skills.

  • Be available for consultation with teachers and family advocates, concerning education content area.

  • Develop and implement the yearly Education Training Calendar.

  • Evaluate teachers and oversee that the evaluations on all other education staff are completed annually.

  • Review & provide technical assistance as needed with lesson plans, observation records, individualized plans, and family contacts.

  • Plan and carry out on-going education meetings and trainings.

  • Oversee and administer all reports regarding children, and staff in education content area.

  • Collaborate with other managers, staff and directors in various program projects.

  • Responsible for all paperwork in regards to education services.

  • Review education job descriptions annually.

  • Be able to work on several projects concurrently in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Interface with administration, managers & staff in various program projects.

  • Develop, implement and revise an annual coaching plan.

  • Develop, evaluate, revise, and update forms and procedures, related to coaching, as needed.

  • Motivate staff through role modeling to ensure compliance of accreditation standards.

  • Work collaboratively with other managers to plan professional development topics for staff.

  • Establish and maintain the program’s professional development calendar and itineraries.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through both oral and written communication with staff, parents, managers and other professionals.

  • Exhibit understanding of and compassion for the needs of all children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Guarantee and maintain confidentiality.

  • Adhere to TVCCA and funding source regulations, policies and procedure to ensure overall program quality.

  • Take on additional tasks as required maintaining program and agency operations and quality.

  • Participate in workshops, formal courses and training, as assigned.

  • Ability to travel.

  • Move and react quickly when necessary to ensure safety of children.

  • Stand, sit, bend, and climb stairs at various locations.

  • Carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Work as scheduled.
