Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. This is a great opportunity for someone who is willing to learn and grow at a top healthcare organization .

A caregiver in this position works weekdays from 2:00PM – 9:00PM and every other weekend from 9:00AM – 5:00PM. Holidays will be required , as needed.

Mercy Health Center of Jackson will be the primary work location, but floating to the Plain location will be required , as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.

  • Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.

  • Acquire , archive, transmit and print images via PACS.

  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.

  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.

  • Maintain documentation.

  • Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.

  • Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients and process billing.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing

  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
