Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will perform essential security duties under general supervision, helping to provide a safe and secure hospital environment for patients, employees, and visitors.

Every day you will lock/unlock doors, assist in the Emergency Department, remain alert for fire/safety hazards, control access to the facility, respond to all emergency codes, and help enforce hospital policies in accordance with established procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong observational skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to respond effectively to emergency situations. Your commitment to maintaining a secure environment and adhering to hospital policies is essential.

  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.

  • Knowledge of and ability to implement the measures necessary to safeguard an organization’s employees and visitors.

  • Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigates security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports.

  • Ensures that all activities are logged and that incident reports are accurately completed, clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Reports all unsafe conditions or work hazards; aware of environment; uses common sense; adheres to patient/visitor identification policies.

  • Employ required tools, techniques, and technologies to minimize losses due to breaches of physical premises security.

  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location.

  • Participates appropriately in disaster drills; understands their role in emergency situations.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.

  • Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcaresetting or Law enforcement or military service; or One (1) yearexperience as a security officer.

  • SECURITY:CA (Guard Card); BLS-CPR within 90 days

Preferred

  • International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) Basic course within 90 days of employment.

  • If at any time facility obtains a company vehicle/golf cart and requires the position to operate a motor vehicle; guard will require AUTO:CA and DRVDMV within 30 days.

Pay Range

$20.30 - $32.04 /hour
