Full job description

Job Summary: The Site Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and profitable operation of an assigned branch location. This role oversees all aspects of daily branch operations, including safety, customer satisfaction, inventory management, labor productivity, cost control, and sales support. The Site Manager uses performance metrics, Lean, and continuous improvement principles to drive operational excellence while developing and leading a high-performing team. 

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, policies, and regulations to maintain a safe, hazard-free warehouse environment, with a strong focus on injury prevention and safe driving practices.

  • Lead and promote Lean, 5S, and housekeeping standards to ensure efficient product flow, reduced waste, and a clean, organized workplace.

  • Oversee daily branch operations, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, and customer service activities.

  • Partner with Supply Chain to manage branch inventory, ensuring accuracy and adherence to inventory management best practices.

  • Monitor and manage key inventory metrics, including shrinkage, inventory turns, and fill rate.

  • Recruit, train, coach, and motivate branch employees; foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service excellence.

  • Manage branch labor to meet customer demand while controlling overtime and staying within labor budgets.

  • Monitor and control branch expenses related to materials, equipment, utilities, and overhead to meet financial targets.

  • Track and act on key financial and operational metrics, including CPU, profitability vs. plan, overhead vs. plan, and revenue vs. plan.

  • Maintain regular contact with key customers and collaborate with Sales to support market growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Review weekly branch performance metrics and proactively develop and implement corrective actions or improvement plans.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state/provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties assigned to support branch and company objectives.

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or branch operations, with prior leadership responsibility.

  • Strong knowledge of safety, inventory management, labor planning, and cost control.

  • Experience using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to analyze operational and financial metrics and translate data into action.

  • Proficiency with standard business systems and Microsoft Office tools.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • In-office / warehouse environment.

  • Regular walking, standing, and movement throughout the warehouse.

  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds occasionally.

  • Exposure to warehouse conditions, including noise, temperature variations, and material handling equipment.
