Maintenance Technician - Ammonia Refrigeration & Utility Systems
Location: Sumner, WA
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Shift: Night Shift | 2:30 PM - 1:00 AM
Schedule: Full-time, 40+ hours per week, with overtime and weekends as needed
Assignment Length: 2-6 Month Contract
Job Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support our operations in Sumner, WA. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment and utility systems, with a strong focus on ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, and compressed air systems .
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment and possess strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
Key Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, compressors, pumps, valves, and related equipment.

Operate and monitor steam boilers, compressed air systems, and water distribution systems.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and natural gas-fired equipment.
-
Complete preventive maintenance tasks and routine inspections to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.

Monitor chemical feed systems and perform water treatment testing and adjustments.
-
Read and interpret gauges, meters, alarms, and control systems.
-
Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using electronic maintenance systems and logbooks.

Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and emergency maintenance situations.
-
Assist with annual boiler inspections and required preparations.
-
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
-
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Required
-
Minimum 2 years of experience with:
-
Ammonia refrigeration systems
-
Steam boiler operations
-
Air compressor maintenance and repair
-
Experience in manufacturing, food production, cold storage, or industrial maintenance environments.

Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
-
Basic computer skills and experience with electronic maintenance documentation.
-
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
-
Valid driver's license.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Ability to pass a physical examination and respirator fit test.
-
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
-
Experience in food manufacturing, beverage production, cold storage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environments.
-
RETA Level 1 or Level 2 Certification.
-
HAZMAT Training.
-
Forklift Certification.
-
Experience using CMMS and/or ERP systems.

Pay Details: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour
