Global Category Manager

The Role

As Global Category Manager you’ll be responsible to plan, drive and implement direct material spend purchasing activities under defined categories (chemical products, buy and sell products) to meet supplier’s performance to Markem-Imaje standards and lead a team.

You’ll have an opportunity to lead high level business and strategic negotiations in line with company strategy and partnering with senior management and key internal stakeholders.

What you’ll do:

  • Reporting to the Global Sourcing Director and responsible for the annual plan for the all Direct spend in defined categories, acting directly in some categories.

  • Accountable for the definition of Global Purchasing Strategy for the Category and Subcategories to meet Markem-Imaje business requirements and compliance.

  • Provide forward looking guidance on trends, threats and opportunities, search and move of spend to global best values areas.

  • Responsible for overall Supply Base performance in term of Cost, working capital and performance.

  • Negotiate all Global contracts and get involved / support on Regional level.

  • Provide input to inform the top down target setting process and drive the bottom up Sourcing Roadmap budget.

  • Engage with key stakeholders on spend, budget visibility, defined roadmaps and driving adhesion to commodity strategy.

  • Manage strategic suppliers (SRM) and deal with high level decision makers.

  • Accountable for the Commodity spend and Sourcing economic performance.

  • Act as a senior focal point and partner with key stakeholders, ensuring full understanding and support of strategic category initiatives.

  • Provide line management support for Category leaders and Sourcing Analysts within the scope.

  • Contribute to the optimization of the organization regarding processes, policy, tools and reporting.

What you need to have:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemical, Business Administration or similar.

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with strong business acumen.

  • Significant experience in a similar role in industrial and international environment.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to partner with senior management and executives. Leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • Results driven in a structured approach and build complex contractual agreements.

  • Availability to travel on a regular basis.
