Full job description

As a HSE Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility within the organization. You will be responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect employees and the environment.

You will report directly to our designated manager, and you’ll work out of our Northford, CT location on an On-site work schedule.

The hours for this position are either 2:00pm - 11:00pm OR 12:00pm - 9:00pm.

In this role, you will impact the organization by identifying potential hazards, developing preventive measures, and supporting continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance. Your work will help safeguard our workforce and contribute to operational excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs within a manufacturing facility to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

  • Drive compliance with OSHA, EPA, local regulatory requirements, and company HSE management system standards.

  • Analyze incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions using root cause analysis methodologies and develop effective corrective and preventive actions

  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs including new employee orientation, contractor safety, ergonomics, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, forklift safety, and emergency response.

  • Lead behavioral safety initiatives and employee engagement activities to strengthen the site's safety culture.

  • Participate in management system audits and support compliance with ISO 5001 and ISO 45001 requirements where applicable.

  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and recommend improvements to reduce employee exposure to musculoskeletal risks.

  • Maintain HSE records, permits, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Review new equipment, process changes, and facility modifications to ensure appropriate HSE controls are implemented prior to startup.

  • Champion continuous improvement projects focused on injury prevention, environmental performance, and operational excellence

You Must Have:

  • 1+ years of experience in health, safety, and environmental engineering or related roles

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices

  • Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions

  • Proficiency with safety management systems and safety compliance tools

  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and local environmental laws

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and influence cross-functional stakeholders

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
