QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid NYS certification in Secondary Special Education

ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Common Core Standards.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, planning, and evaluation of materials.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective classroom management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with students of all ability levels, as well as modification of material for student growth.

  • Demonstrated ability to reflect on one's teaching, allowing for growth and excellence.

  • Demonstrated ability to use assessment tools and data to identify needs, assess student progress and performance, and plan instruction to improve performance and achievement of all learners.

  • Demonstrated evidence of optimism, enthusiasm, compassion, warmth, understanding, and sensitivity to all students.

  • Demonstrated evidence of strategies to promote high levels of student engagement.

  • Demonstrated evidence of effective communication with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

  • Demonstrated evidence of effective interpersonal skills with students, faculty, support staff, and parents as well as care/case managers for post-secondary outcomes.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated evidence of success working with students with a variety of learning needs and challenges.

  • Experience with modifying curriculum to achieve student goals.

  • Experience working and collaborating with paraprofessionals, aides, and other support staff.

  • Demonstrated success collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SALARY: $28,320 - $32,220 Per WTA Contract

(this salary is pro-rated from a full-time position)
