Full job description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a wholesale distribution organization in Morgan Hill, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage daily financial activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reliable reporting. The role will focus on general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and tax-related accounting tasks while helping ensure compliance with corporate and sales tax requirements.
Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate monthly and periodic financial reporting.

Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

Assist with corporate tax processes, including gathering documentation and supporting tax return preparation.

Handle sales tax accounting activities by reviewing transactions, tracking obligations, and helping ensure filings are accurate.

Support month-end and year-end close by organizing financial data and completing assigned accounting tasks within deadlines.

Analyze accounting records and supporting schedules to improve accuracy and strengthen financial controls.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide accounting information, clarify variances, and address financial questions as needed. Requirements • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

Working knowledge of general ledger management and journal entry preparation.

Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and support for corporate tax return activities.

Experience handling sales tax processes and related accounting requirements.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records.

Ability to organize priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a long-term contract assignment.
