Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking a Software Engineer - Level 2 to join our team. This position can be located in either Redondo Beach, CA or Aurora, CO.

*Please be aware that this position is contingent upon capturing program award(s) and obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding. Furthermore, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance at the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

In this role, you will develop and sustain several mission operational SW product lines, as well as develop new capabilities. You will join a large team comprising of multiple subsystems, each with a specialized software focus. We are looking for an energetic and passionate software engineer to join our team as we work to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in support of our national security mission.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • Must have an active SCI at time of application or an active TS clearance at time of application with the ability to obtain SCI within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company prior to start date

  • Object-Oriented programming skills

  • Experience in one or more server-side languages, including C++, Python, Node.js, Go, or Java

  • Experience developing scalable backend solutions

  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, GraphQL APIs, or gRPC services

  • Proficient in Agile principles, and the effective use of Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized software runtimes

  • Advanced mathematics, optimization, and 3D spatial computing skills

  • Robotics and motion planning algorithms

  • Domain knowledge of spacecraft attitude control

  • DevSecOps Test Automation experience

  • Strong skills in math and algorithms

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management, and stakeholders

  • Previous participation on an Agile scrum team or familiarity with the Agile process

  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo)

  • Experience developing in a Linux environment using git

  • Previous experience developing Command and Control software for Satellite Ground Systems

  • Experience working within a DevOps pipeline (ArgoCD, GitLab Runners, Zephyr Test Framework)

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
