Job Duties
Responsible for overseeing all financial operations, reporting, and compliance of a tourist resort. Ensures accurate accounting practices, efficient internal controls, and effective financial planning to support operational success, profitability, and strategic growth.
Assist in financial and business decision-making, drive cost controls across all departments, and ensure compliance with GAAP, state and federal regulations, and corporate policies.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and rolling cash flow projections.
Prepare detailed monthly P&L statements, variance analyses, and executive financial reports.
Track KPIs including GOP, RevPAR, RevPOR, labor cost per occupied room, F&B cost ratios, and departmental profitability.
Provide financial insights to guide revenue strategies and capital investment decisions.
Accounting & Reporting
Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
Maintain reconciliations of all bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet items.
Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and external consultants to ensure accurate reporting.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Implement and monitor internal control systems to safeguard resort assets.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state/local tax regulations, and hospitality industry standards.
Review and approve contracts, leases, and financial commitments to protect the resort's interests.
Maintain compliance with MN labor laws for payroll, PTO, and benefit accruals.
Cost Management & Efficiency
Establish and monitor cost controls in all operating departments (Rooms, F&B, Banquets, Waterpark, Golf, Marina, Recreation, Maintenance).
Work with department heads to review labor efficiency, procurement practices, and vendor contracts.
Evaluate and recommend technology and process improvements to reduce expenses.
Treasury & Cash Management
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships.
Monitor loan compliance, debt covenants, and capital project financing.
Oversee purchasing card policies, petty cash, and working capital management.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as a financial advisor to the management.
Provide training and mentoring to accounting staff and operational managers on financial literacy.
Participate in executive meetings and assist in strategic planning.
Support ownership in valuation reviews, property tax appeals, and capital expenditure planning.
Other similar duties as assigned.
** Special Requirements: Experience must include: Developing budgets, financial reports, KPls, and dashboards to support cost control, operations, and business planning; Monitoring budget variances; Optimizing accounting through automation and standardization; Reviewing monthly P&L to support profitability; and Using Excel (Pivot Tables and Power Pivot), Power Query, and Power BI.

Minimum Education Required
Require a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent. EDGE-Based equivalency evaluation accepted.
Minimum Experience Required
Five years of experience in the job offered or any occupation in which the required experience was gained.
