Job Duties
JOB SUMMARY:
To diagnose and perform trailer repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance of company equipment in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner while meeting company and DOT requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain accurate repair orders, repair history and shop records
Perform scheduled repairs and customization work as assigned
Perform routine maintenance per Standard Operating Procedures
Test and troubleshoot braking, electrical, lighting systems
Monitor and Perform hub, axle and brake component replacement/repair, tire replacement/repair, suspension repair and air component troubleshooting and repair, and trailer body repair.
Perform minor welding or fabrication on equipment as necessary
Follow safety policies.
Assist with other duties as assigned
Maintain a clean work and shop area
Daily Work Expectations: Perform preventative and required maintenance on a variety of trailers / equipment as needed in the shop, maintain and update appropriate records, and communicate issues and concerns with appropriate team members as needed.
Work Environment/Conditions: Typical mechanic shop / production environment with a variety of sights, sounds, and smells found in a mechanic shop. At times will be required to go outside in weather to obtain vehicles and or perform maintenance work.
Required Work Hours: Primarily a 40 hour work week (Monday – Friday). Scheduled work hours can vary based on the seasonality of Bayer Built Woodworks, Inc.
Minimum Education Required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent
2 years of related work experience
Minimum Experience Required
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must be able to read and write
Good organizational abilities
Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Manual dexterity, experience with hand tools, and physical strength.
Operate semi within facility to move trailers
Work with computers to diagnose, complete and document repairs
Must be able to work on multiple assets and other techs to manage workflow
