Description

Must have the skill and ability to operate any necessary cranes for pouring operations, unloading molding line, moving, and stagging floor molds, removing poured molds from pouring floor and transferring them to shakeout, setting up and removing pouring weights, properly place plates and all other necessary crane related functions. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

This level is also designed as the entry level in learning either the electric melting process or the pouring process. Those items are listed below.

  • Ability to make heats with either standard recipe or heat specific recipe.

  • Must be able to recognize wear on furnace liner and identify when reline is needed. Full ability to perform all stages of the reline process.

  • Must be able to dig out furnace, grout furnace, locate ground wires properly, apply mica paper if needed, install spout properly, align furnace liner, level furnace liner, install vibrator, load lining material into furnace.

  • Must be able to slag off furnace, and empty slag barrels.

  • Operate both skid loader and forklift for daily use. Must be familiar with all phases of the melting process and be able to perform all related duties.

  • Ability to perform prepping, setting up, and cleaning of the pouring floor. Full knowledge of how to patch, repair or replace ladles.

  • Make pouring beds on plates or ground as necessary. Identify slug molds properly to ensure they can be used as remelt.

  • Make sure proper slug rails are available for use. Knowledge of proper mold weighting practices. Ability to anchor or band molds as needed.

  • Empty molding line molds and properly locate mold for pouring or interim storage. Ability to use of grabs, bars and chains in the moving of molds.

  • Work closely as part of a team.

  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and habits while encouraging the same from coworkers.

  • Exhibits safe execution of all tasks and duties.

  • Work collaboratively with company supervision to meet company goals.

  • All other duties assigned.

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE Working knowledge of electrical, water-cooling, and hydraulic systems. Basic computer skills, keyboard, and screen navigation for Spectrometer system. No special training beyond high school or comparable foundry experience. Must be able to read, follow instructions, and keep accurate legible records. 2 plus years of melt deck experience.
