Summary:

The Office of the First-Year Experience seeks to hire a First-Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator. The First-Year Experience Coordinator is an important member of the Office of the First-Year Experience (FYE) Team. This staff member coordinates all orientation events and resource allocations for New Student, Transfer, London, and January orientations. New Student Orientation serves a large campus community (approximately 700 incoming students), and all orientations include externally-facing events involving families, guests, and community members. In addition, the FYE Administrative Coordinator coordinates the Peer Mentor program, manages the Office of the First-Year Experience including its three budgets (Orientation, Scribner Seminars, and Operations) which total close to $180K, and supports the Director of the FYE.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Coordinates all Orientations (London, New Student & Transfers)

  • Provides on-the-ground (direct) management of New Student Orientation in collaboration with the Associate Director of First-Year Experience

  • Coordinates Peer Mentors

  • Manages the Office of First-Year Experience

  • Manages the three First-Year Experience budgets (Orientation, Scribner Seminars, and Operations) which total close to $180,000. In the management of the budget, the Coordinator makes independent decisions regarding budgeted expenses.

  • Supports the Director of First-Year Experience

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.

Experience: 5 years of experience in higher education roles, orientation experience especially helpful

  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both in written and oral forms, with colleagues across campus and with first-year students and their families. Must be able to collaborate with a variety of offices. Must be able to apply good judgment and an awareness of College policies.

  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple, disparate projects with varying timelines simultaneously.

  • Must have demonstrable experience in events planning, writing instruction, and presentation skills.

  • Strong aptitude for leading, influencing, and managing change is required.

  • Must be comfortable working with MS Office products and able to train into systems supporting communication with students and families.

  • Must be able to work overtime leading up to and during Orientation, including Labor Day Weekend

Pay range: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour
