Position Specific Description

The Tax Manager will report to the Director, Sales & Use Tax and will support tax planning, research and M&A related to transactions affecting NextEra. The role requires deep technical expertise in sales and use tax and serves as a subject matter expert responsible for leading tax projects, supporting significant business initiatives, and ensuring compliance with evolving state and local tax regulations across a diverse and growing energy portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and local sales & use tax laws and regulations.

  • Research complex sales, use and other transaction tax issues.

  • Support tax planning and M&A teams.

  • Evaluate legislative developments and provide technical guidance on S&U legislation.

  • Support tax controversy related to sales, use and other transaction tax audits.

  • Participate in the growth and development of transaction tax team members.

  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and technology enhancements within the tax function.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for managing and directing all activities regarding the organization’s tax policy including forecasting and analysis, planning and tax research.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works to optimize the tax obligation of the organization

  • Assures that all appropriate tax returns and payments are filed in a timely manner

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience: 8+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Master's - Accounting / Finance

  • LLM - Master of Laws
